We’ve had a busy month here at Northlake Middle School! Check out what we have been up to this month:
MAP Rewards
Our scholars take a math and reading assessment called MAP three times a year. If they showed improvement from fall to winter, they received an open gym and ice cream treat. We are so proud of the students who continue to push themselves and show growth. Their hard work does not go unnoticed!
March Madness
Scholars competed in their math classes throughout the month in an iReady Tournament. The goal of the tournament was to see which class could pass the most lessons on iReady. The winning teams played dodgeball in front of the school at an assembly. The overall winning class was Mr. Culbertson’s 9/10!
Math Olympiad
The top math scholars ventured to MacArthur to compete in a day of problem solving and teamwork! They did an individual challenge, a partner challenge, and a team challenge. All of our teams showed perseverance and sportsmanship.
Scoty Award
The Scoty Award recognizes students that have been chosen by their schools as good school citizens and models for others to emulate. Grades and activities are important considerations, but only a small part of the selection process. Congratulations to this year’s winner, Jesus Gacilazo!
Pie the Principal
Our PTA awarded the class that sold the most Smillows by letting them pie Dr. Mody in front of the entire school! Ms. Arentsen and Ms. Kriepke’s class thoroughly enjoyed throwing the pies.
